chatfriend

Hi, stranger.

No account, no name, no small talk. Tell us what you're into and we introduce you to one person at a time who shares at least one of your interests. If your interests don't overlap, our AI quietly moderates a starter question you'll both actually want to answer.

Pick a few of these — or skip and write your own:

Three jobs the AI does, all in one chat.

Watch a full anonymous-chat flow from the moment you arrive. You can skip questions if you'd rather just see what happens.

Stage 1 · Onboarding Stage 2 · Matching Stage 3 · Chat + Moderator

Your personal note

This demo runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere — the real product will connect two real people.

How matching actually works.

Five small steps. Click any of them to read what the AI is doing.

The matching ladder.

Three rungs, top to bottom. Each one is the fallback for when the one above it can't find anyone.

TIER 1
Exact matchAt least 2 interests in common. The AI introduces you by what you share.
"Sora, meet Mira. You both love jazz and books."
TIER 2
Broadened match1 interest shared. The AI widens the search when exact is empty.
"You both like music — Sora lives in jazz, Mira in indie folk."
TIER 3
Moderator-bridged0 interests shared. The AI finds a topic you'd both enjoy and seeds a starter question.
"We couldn't find overlap. Try: what's the last thing that made you laugh?"

The aim is to never give you a stranger who feels random. Tier 1 first, Tier 2 if the queue is quiet, Tier 3 only when it has to.

Three bridges the moderator has built.

When your tastes don't overlap, the AI picks a starter question that gives both people something to say. These are real examples, lightly fictionalised.

Jazz ↔ Cook

AI · Sora & Mira
"What's the last meal you cooked while listening to something?"

The jazz-lover hears cooking as album mood; the cook hears listening as a podcast while chopping. Both have an answer.

Philosophy ↔ Gaming

AI · Theo & Ren
"A game that changed how you decide things, big or small — what was it?"

The philosopher reads it as agency; the gamer hears it as a playthrough. Either path is interesting.

Books ↔ Fitness

AI · Anya & Bo
"A chapter you reread. A set you almost didn't finish. Which was harder."

Both routines — one literary, one physical. They can compare notes.

You can mute the moderator mid-chat if you'd rather just talk.

Anonymous by design.

The whole product works without knowing who you are. A few specifics:

No account to chat

Email is only for the waitlist. To chat you don't give us a name, an age, a phone, or a profile picture.

Personalized note stays on your device

Your tastes are stored in your browser's local storage. They live where you live. Clear them and they're gone.

Sessions don't carry across visits

Close the tab, the conversation's over. Re-open it tomorrow and you start fresh, with a fresh pool of strangers.

The AI never asks your name

It doesn't need to know who you are to find you someone to talk to. It doesn't ask where you live, what you do, or how old you are.

You can delete the note

One tap in settings: the local profile disappears, the matching starts clean.

The other person sees a stranger

Both of you get an abstract name and a colour dot. Not a search result, not a friend request.

How much should the AI decide?

Pick once. You'll get the same kind of matching until you change it.

    What we're building next.

A roadmap, in plain English. Phase 1 is the product above; Phase 2 is the expansion; Phase 3 is the long arc.

    1. Shipping first

      Hello, stranger.

Anonymous 1:1 chat with interest-based matching and an AI moderator.

      • Onboarding chat— AI asks about your interests one question at a time
      • Personalized note— your taste profile, stored locally, no signup
      • Interest-based matching— pair with someone who shares at least one interest
      • Progressive broadening— relaxes the search when exact is empty
      • AI moderator— bridges with a starter question when interests don't overlap
      • One email— we write to you when two of you are ready
    2. Next

      Bigger rooms, longer memories.

Topic rooms, language bridging, persistent taste notes.

      • Topic rooms— drop into a themed 3–6 person room with an AI moderator
      • Live language bridging— the AI translates in real time, asks are written in your language
      • Longer personalized notes— the AI remembers more, asks less on return visits
      • Pick a voice— friendly, precise, or minimal, kept across every chat
      • Lightweight pseudonyms— opt-in names your matches can recognise
    3. Further out

      Communities, by interest.

Bigger groups, shared circles, longer relationships.

      • Communities— recurring rooms for one shared interest, with rotating guests
      • Shared interest circles— curated by the AI from people who keep landing on each other
      • Open days— a weekend drop-in for everyone who's on the waitlist
      • Multilingual voice— audio only, no typing

We ship when something is ready, not when the calendar says so. The waitlist hears first.

    How this is different.

If you've ever tried a random chat app or tried to make a single Discord friend happen, here's where ChatFriend changes the shape.

How ChatFriend compares to a Discord invite and a random chat app, across four jobs.
Throw a Discord invite Random chat app ChatFriend
Find someone who likes what I like You join a server. Half the channels are dead. Nobody knows you're there. Pure roulette. Most people you'll never want to talk to. The AI reads your note, looks for overlap with everyone else, and introduces you by what you have in common.
Talk to a stranger late at night You ping, you wait, maybe someone replies at 3am, maybe not. A bot in a costume, or a stranger who leaves in 10 seconds. You pick a slot, the AI finds one other person who's up at the same hour. You get a stranger, not a queue.
Agree on something to talk about "So… what's up?" Small talk forever. Awkward silence until one of you leaves. When interests differ, the AI plants a starter question you'd both actually answer. You can mute it any time.
Not get harassed Mods, if any. Your DMs are wide open. Best case: block button. Worst case: every reason people stopped using Omegle. Anonymous, paired one-to-one, with an AI watching the room. One-tap leave, no questions asked.

The demo on this page is a simulation. The real product will connect two real people. Sign up and we'll write when two of you are ready.

    Straight answers.

    How anonymous am I, really?

You don't give a name, age, or email when you chat. The other person sees an abstract label and a colour. We log as little as we can about conversations — you'll see exactly what we keep in the in-app settings.

    What is the personalized note?

It's the small taste profile the AI builds while it asks you about your interests. It lives in your browser, used only to match you. It's not shared with the other person as a profile — just used by the AI to find someone for you.

Can I delete the personalized note?

Yes. One tap in settings clears the local profile, and the AI starts clean next time.

    Who sees my interests?

Only the AI uses them — to find you someone who shares at least one. The other person doesn't see your list. They get a sentence introduction like "you both love jazz and books," that's all.

What happens when no match exists?

Two things. First, the AI relaxes the match distance and looks for people with one shared interest instead of two. Second, if it still can't find a fit, it pairs you anyway and becomes the moderator — it picks a starter question that gives both of you something to say.

What does the moderator actually do?

It watches for silence, planted starters, and a topic bridge when the two of you have nothing obvious in common. One tap mutes it. One tap brings it back. It never speaks as either of you.

Can I opt out of matching?

Yes — pick "Let me pick" in the autonomy dial. You see who's online and you write to whoever you want, when you want.

    When can I use it?

We're preparing the first build. Leave your email and we'll write once, when two of you are ready.

    Find me someone.

One email. We write when there are two of you ready to talk.
